Abstract

MARRERO GARCIA, Mariela  and  SANABRIA MOLINA, Igor. Implementation of quality management system in the National Center for Nuclear Safety of the Republic Cuba. Nucleus [online]. 2010, n.48, pp. 42-46. ISSN 0864-084X.

ABSTRACT Since early 1992, the CNSN has been working on improving its key processes related to safe and peaceful use of nuclear energy in order to provide customers and stakeholders with confidence, which is, at the same time, one of the purposes of the International Atomic Energy Agency concerning these issues. The effectiveness of regulatory activity can be determined from the application of appropriate management systems to ensure strictly assigned functions. In the international practice promoted by the International Organization for Standardization, management systems (QMS) are the most widely used for these purposes. They are generally applicable to all organizations and there are certification programs and multilateral recognition focused on commercial exchange and otherwise such as traceability, testing, etc. For the purposes of a regulatory authority, the application of these modern management systems contributes to the transparency of its operation and the consistent application of its policies. Quality management in the regulatory authority relates all levels of human resources and management. This can be understood as necessary and documented relationship with the radiation protection infrastructure, regulators, the public and employees. In this paper, we present some considerations on this subject concerning both the design stage and the implementation and maintenance of the QMS, from the experience gained in the CNSN.
