An epidemiological study was conducted at "René Arcay" cement factory, in Mariel, aimed at knowing the behaviour of working disability due to pathologies of the osteomyoarticular system (OMAS) in 1997, when the factory had 743 workers, 596 males and 147 females. Of the total of workers, 8l had some OMAS pathology, which represented a rate of 10,9 x 100 workers. The highest rate was that of females. Of all the OMAS disorders, low back pain occupied the first place. Different variables of person and age were analyzed. The most significant variable was the history of OMAS episodes previous to the diagnosis
