Abstract

DIAZ LLANES, Guillermo. The middle-aged woman and her satisfaction with life in Cuban populations . Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2007, vol.23, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3038.

Middle-aged women (40-59 years old) are one of the groups potentially vulnerable to diseases and to low levels of subjective well-being. This paper summarizes the main results attained in various studies conducted by the author in different Cuban populations with different designs. A high prevalence of subjective well-being was observed. The dysfunctional attitudes of achievement and control were risk factors for low subjective well-being. The best middle-aged care givers showed an adequate subjective well-being at the expense of a high control on the roles they play.

Keywords : Middle-aged woman; satisfaction with life; control; dysfunctional attitudes.
