Introduction: atherosclerotic disease, considered as a general metabolic disease, is known since ancient times. It begins at conception and progresses until the appearance of clinical manifestations in decades afterwards. This issue of atherosclerosis in increasingly early ages, has attracted growing interest from researchers worldwide, and our country is not exempt. Objectives: To identify early atherogenic signals in secondary school students in the municipality of Arroyo Naranjo, in 2008-2009, and relate them to a group of identified variables. Methods: An empiric descriptive traverse observational study was carried out on 200 students of secondary level during the period 2008-2009 with the purpose of identifying atherogenics signs. The high school enrollment was 375 students and we made a cohort for this research. We included all students enrolled at the school, whose parents or guardians gave consent. We excluded students who left the school, or those whose parents did not agree. Data were collected in a structured model, we determined: weight, height, body mass index, blood pressure, physical activity, dietary habits, smoking and prenatal history. Results: The male sex so much in overweight and obese prevailed over female. The prenatal antecedents of diabetes contributed the higher number of cases with malnutrition for excess. Out of the total, 53.50 % classified as pre-hypertensive. Adolescents with antecedents of macrosomy prevailed in the group of pre-hypertensive and in the group of hypertensive, those who has low weight at birth prevailed. We didn't meet strong relationship between weight and degree of hypertension. The passive smoking represented 59 % of the cases. Conclusions: There are hide atherogenics signs in early ages which should to be detected and treated on time.
