Abstract

This study analyzes the overall promotion and the academic efficiency of cycles and courses in medicine, Dentistry and Nursery degree studies as well as the national efficiency rate of the Medical Sciences and of the 13 Higher Medical Education centers during the academic years 1987-1988 to 1998-1999 (12 years). It is stated that total promotion of Dentistry students was over 96.3 %; that of Medicine was 95.2 % whereas Nursery degree studies reached 84.6 %. In the studied cycles, 8 to 19 out of 100 students in medicine and 22-41 in Nursery. The national efficiency rate of Medical Sciences was in the range of 63.2-82.2 %. As to the Higger Medical Education centers, the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences in Camagüey showed the best results among the best among the 9 medical schools. Bocth achieved their best results in six of the twelve studied courses.
