Anatomy is the science or branch of morphology which treats of structure of organized bodies. Ancient conception of this science had a metaphysical position, and the present one has a dialectic approach. Historical evolution of Anatomy and its teaching in Cuba has been in correspondence with political, economical, and social changes occurred in society, and the scientific-technical development achieved by humanity. Aim of present paper was to emphasize the more significant events of Anatomy teaching in our country, and how changes above have has influenced in its development. More relevant facts of historical evolution of Anatomy in its different stages were specified: preformation, formation, reform, differentiation and integration, as well as those related to its teaching in Cuba in colonial, neocolonial, and revolutionary period, as for teaching features, study plans and programs, location where it was gave, teaching media, textbooks used and more prominent professors in this task.
