Abstract

Objective: to characterize the current state of the academic posgraduate training in Health Psychology in Europe based on the identification of the teaching programs, their objectives, courses or modules of compulsory character and investigative lines. Methods: a descriptive cross-sectional study was undertaken. The study group was made up of 25 posgraduate programs at 21 european universities. Results: it was revealed the predominance of the master’s degree figure with performance profiles, based mainly on the cognitive, behavioural and humanistic trends. Differences were observed as regards the titling and in the Master’s Degree courses in Health Psychology conducted in the United Kingdom compared with those of the rest of Europe. Conclusions: information on the current state of the programs was obtained, giving the possibility to undertake comparative studies in other geographical areas and in Cuba to improve the present and future programs
