Abstract

DIAZ VELIS MARTINEZ, Esther  and  RAMOS RAMIREZ, Ramiro. Cross-sectional curriculum for the family theme in the medical career. Educ Med Super [online]. 2007, vol.21, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 0864-2141.

Objective: to describe the fundamental characteristics of the cross-sectional curricular project for the family, as well as its potentialities and benefits. Development: the accelerated rhythm of knowledge and its caducity lead the higher education institutions to obtain a higher integration among the curricular disciplines and to develop in their students a capacity to learn along life and in an autonomous way by using the learning tools propitiating it. Therefore, the subjects should have interconnection links with other subjects and contribute to the logics of the profession. However, most of the collectives are enclosed in their curricular spaces, reflecting a lack of coordination and integration in the implementation of the curriculum. In an investigation carried out in the Faculty of Medicine of Villa Clara, it was proved the existence of difficulties in the integration of the contents into the family topic as a working object of the future professional, and a “product” was designed to improve its vertical integration at the different curricular levels. The cross-sectional curricular project for the family includes a methodological manual with diverse tools for the establishment of interconnection links, upgrading activities in key themes, organization of spaces for the interchange of opinions between different areas of the curriculum, in addition to the creation of interconnection bridges of the career with employment units, users and other careers. Conclusions: the elaborate product offers various new ideas to achieve the integration demanded and to transcend to a higher level of transdisciplinary perspective, where the pedagogical preparation of the professorship is a medullar aspect
