Abstract

AIM: to show that universities may assume distance education as a regular academic modality on the basis of the addition of tools offered by the information and communication technologies. Virtual platforms are one of the preferred for this purpose. DEVELOPMENT: the experience obtained in the Health Statistics courses corresponding to the Health Technology career, Health Information Management profile of the course for workers in the semi-presence modality, through the Health Virtual Classroom, component of the Virtual University of the Telematic Health Network (Infomed), was presented as a main space in its execution. CONCLUSIONS: the need of a balance between the virtual and the presence is emphasized to achieve a satisfactory teaching process.
