Abstract

Some achievements of health sciences in the world and in Cuba that have remained as memorable dates for the history of all the mankind are mentioned. November was taken as a paradigm of these events and as an introduction to describe in detail some elements of this dolorous event occurred on november 27th, 1871, when eight medical students were unjustly executed, a day that is celebrated every year with sorrow. We took as a point of reference the historical context in which this woeful event took place to offer some details of its background and of its final moments.
