Abstract

URBINA LACI, Omayda; TORRES ESPERON, Julia Maricela; OTERO CEBALLOS, Marta  and  MARTINEZ TRUJILLO, Nelcy. The working competences of the nursing professional in the Neonatology service. Educ Med Super [online]. 2008, vol.22, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 0864-2141.

We took as a reference point a research conducted in Havana City (2002-2004) that included the second health care level and within it, the pediatric, gynecoobstetric, maternal and children's hospìtals and "Luis Díaz Soto" Military Medicine Institute aimed at identifying the working competences developed by nursing professionals in the Neonatology Service as a useful tool for the competent execution of actions and interventions of this professional. Documentary review techniques, surveys, and consultation with experts, with whom workshops and group interviews were carried out, were used. We concluded by identifying the generic and specific competences in the nursing professional of the Neonatology services. These results have been used for the Suitability Resolution of the Public Health Ministry in 2006, the design of the manual of techniques and procedures of Neonatology nursing in 2007, and they also served as the basis for the functions and competences by training profiles presented in the plan D of the Nursing career in 2008.

Keywords : Health care; working competences; nursing professional,; neonatology service.
