To pay respect to the strategy of continuous improvement of the postgraduate state quality in National Center of Minimal Access Surgery, authors determined the quality variables to be used in the self-evaluation guide for postgraduate programs of such center. In selection of above variables we resort to national and international experiences in self-evaluation, evaluation and accreditation, as well as to the consideration of features own of postgraduate education quality in the health field, using for the integration of these practices, the methods of content analysis and compared analysis. For self-evaluation guide we selected general variables applicable in diverse higher education institutions, separately of their knowledge areas and a different variable, the healthcare one, related specially to the teaching effectiveness in health area. The established variable system allows assessing the teaching-assistance-research integration, which is an essential element of the medical sciences education.
