Abstract

GARCIA PEREZ, Reinaldo Pablo et al. A Methodology for the Analysis of the Health Situation in the Medical Major. Educ Med Super [online]. 2019, vol.33, n.2  Epub Mar 18, 2020. ISSN 1561-2902.

Introduction:

In the subject Public Health of the Medicine major, the analysis of the health situation reaches its maximum curricular level. The proposed methodology is the practical-instrumental outcome of a previously constructed theoretical model.

Objective:

To validate the practical value of the methodology for the analysis of the health situation, once its scientific-methodological relevance has been assessed.

Methods:

The proposed methodology was the practical-instrumental outcome of a previously constructed theoretical model. A pedagogical research was carried out at the School of Medical Sciences of Ciego de Ávila, between September 2012 and June 2016. First, the teaching-learning process and the dynamics of content were characterized; then, a pre-experiment was carried out with post-test when applying the methodology. Theoretical methods were used: historical-logical, inductive-deductive, analytical-synthetic, systemic-structural-functional, hermeneutic-dialectic, and holistic-dialectic; as well as empirical ones: documentary analysis, surveys, qualification and observation guides, expert criteria, and socialization workshops. The participants signed the consent to collaborate, as well as accepted the publication of the results with the guarantee of their anonymity.

Results:

The methodology included a two-stage sequence with three methods, qualitative and quantitative techniques and 52 procedures that, in view of developing the co-transformative sanitary capacity in students, allowed them to move to higher stages of transformation. Prior to such application, its relevance was found: adequate internal consistency (α2=0.876 and α3=0.893) and highly significant concordance (Kendall's W2=0.472 and W3=0.509); the specialists considered this values appropriate.

Conclusions:

The effectiveness of the methodology to improve the dynamics of the analysis of the health situation in the subject Public Health was verified, through the three levels of accomplishment achieved in the students.
