Abstract

ALEMANY GONZALEZ, Jaime  and  CAMACHO RUAIGIP, Fariel. Results of dacryocystorhinostomy without endocanalicular intubation with silicone. Rev Cubana Oftalmol [online]. 2002, vol.15, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3070.

In order to evaluate the results of the application of this technique with local anesthesia, wide osteotomy with clamps, no intubation with silicone and early removal of the nasal tamponade, 16 patients with diagnosis of chronic dacryocystitis and persistent epiphora (excluding those with traumatic injury, previous dacryocystorhinostomy or more than 2 severe worsenings in the last 6 months) were operated on by using this external technique with the above mentioned modifications. They were evaluated in the postoperative. Excepting 2 patients (fibrosis and sinusal tumor), the rest has evolved satisfactorily up to now (87.5 %). This technique is rapid, easy and efficient and it should be considered as a valid option in the surgical treatment of dacryocystitis.
