HERRERA SOTO, Marta; GONZALEZ RODRIGUEZ, Carlos; MARTINEZ SUAREZ, Nereyda  and  PADILLA GONZALEZ, Carmen. Behavior of palpebral ptosis in the oculoplasty service: Year 2001 . Rev Cubana Oftalmol [online]. 2002, vol.15, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3070.

93 patients that visited our office during the year 2001 and underwent complete and specific ophthalmological examination for ptosis.were studied. 40.86 % were 15 or less. Ethiologically, the aponeurotic ptosis accounted for 41.8 %, followed by the myogenic with 41.1 %. In the group aged 15 or less the myogenic ptosis represented 82.4 % and among those over 61 the aponeurotic accounted for 85.4 %. Severe ptosis had a null function of the elevator in 73.46 %, whereas the excellent function prevailed in the mild and moderate with 56.2 and 31.25 %, respectively. 77.9 % had no surgical complications. It was observed a prevalence among patients aged 15 or under. The postsurgical aponeurotic ptosis predominated within the aponeurotic ptosis, whereas the simple congenital ptosis prevailed among the myogenic. The function of the elevator was excellent in the mild ptosis and nil in the severe. There were no complications
