Abstract

A descriptive and retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the visual rehabilitation treatment. 40 patients that received this treatment at the Pediatric Ophthalmological Center of Kolhy were included in the study.The patitents' medical histories were uesd as a source of information. The following data were collected: age, initial and final visual acuity with their crystals, refractive defect, initial and final fixation, and time and type of treatment The treatment proved to be efficient in 87.5 % of the patients, which was expressed in different degrees of improvement. The differences between the initial and the final visual acuity in both eyes were statistically significant. The rehabilitative treatment was effective in patients suffering from moderate and mild amblyopia with foveate fixation, but not in those with severe amblyopia with eccentric fixation
