OBJECTIVE: To show the effectiveness of visual rehabilitation therapy of amblyopic children. METHODS: A retrospective descriptive study of 60 children with amblyopia, who came from "Ramón Téllez Peña" visual rehabilitation school in Las Tunas province, was conducted in the 2005-2006 academic year. RESULTS: The rehabilitation treatment was effective in 81,7 % of cases; early ages, amblyopia with foveal fixation and amblyopia of refractive origin had an effect on the results. CONCLUSIONS: Rehabilitation treatment favoured improvement in visual acuity in most of patients.
