Abstract

Using ENZIMEBA, diagnostic procedure of intestinal amebiasis, developed in the Institute of Tropical Medicine "Pedro Kourí", it could be shown that in the Cienfuegos Province, the microscopic assay of feces, was associated to a marked superdiagnosis of this parasitosis (out of 424 Entamoeba histolytica positive sample by microscopic screenings, only 61 were positive ENZYMEBA samples). In order to know the factors that could be influencing on the quality of work of that province's technicians, we applied a survey to the universe of that province's laboratory personnel. The group of results from this survey (11 questions) suggest us that the quality of the intestinal amebiasis diagnosis, by microscopic screening of feces, could be affected by tecnnical and organizational defficiencis associated to other objective and subjective factors.
