The importance attached to the studies on quality of life has been growing since the 70's when, after achieving the goals of increasisng production and distribution, governments and researchers alike focused on quality. suffice it to say that as an average 1100 articles on this topic are annually published. the quality of life in its subjective side, i.e. individual satisfaction is the subject of this descriptive study (estimation of prevalence and description of the behaviour of a series of psychological variables regarding personal disatisfaction) in which 567 middle-aged females (45-49) from a total of 600 women seen at "Cristobal Labra " polyclinics located in lisa municipality and selected for a randomized simple sampling from a population of 3006 were surveyed in the first semester of 1997. the applied instrument was isp-releba to measure personal satisfaction. the statistical processing included the calculation of descriptive measures (rates and percentages) through the statistical package ep16 and univariate methods (comparison of means test in separate samples). a personal disatisfaction prevalence rate of 25.6% was found. the disatisfaction increased with the educational level. the disatisfaction with economic opportunities and the type of job performed reached the highest prevalence rates.
