Abstract

¿Hemos avanzado en la evaluación de la Comunicación en salud?. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2001, vol.27, n.1, pp. 5-10. ISSN 1561-3127.

The need for evaluation has been stated from a number of perspectives in the course of time. Although it was traditionally seen as the last action or step in a program or project , over the last ten years or more, it has been strongly stated that evaluation should accompany or to go along with the whole process of diagnosis, formulation, development, and analysis of the results and impact of the selected intervention strategy. It is necessary to point out that social communication strategies are not excluded from being evaluated; we may say that in theses cases evaluation is a kind of nucleus around which all types of actions where validation of mediated products is fundamental are grouped. The objective of this paper is to explore how far we have gone in this field. The analysis of the information gathered from a literature and documentary review as well as expert interviews shows that although obvious progress or advances have been made, they are not sufficient in this field.
