Abstract

LOPEZ SUAREZ, Dulce María. Gustavo Aldereguía: médico revolucionario de su tiempo y del futuro. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2002, vol.28, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3127.

The present paper refers to the life of Doctor Gustavo Aldereguía, example of the work of a professional devoted to his task and to the revolutionary ideas, and who was linked with the rebellious and progressive intellectuals close to Julio A. Mella and Rubén Martínez Villena. Gustavo Aldereguía was side by side with the poor and against exploitation and imperialism. Once Machado's tyranny was overthrown, this outstanding physiologist became the director of "La Esperanza" Sanatorium, where he worked with enthusiasm and energy for its patients. At the triumph of the Revolution, he was assigned to direct the important antituberculosis vaccination campaign organized by the Revolutionary Government due to his capacity and well-known political militantness. His investigative eagerness, his dedicated and altruistic professional work, his ethic principles and his significant revolutionary attitude distinguish him as a revolutionary physician of the present and the future time
