The Economic Evaluation in Health care has consolidated as a tool for decision-making. The present paper is aimed at making a diagnosis of the situation of the Economic Evaluation in Health Care in Cuba. Elements like classification, methodology, rigorous application, interdisciplinary links, relation with decision making, accessibility and dissemination of these studies. The above-mentioned elements were characterized by means of two procedures: description of economic evaluations performed in the last 30 years and the criteria obtained from professionals linked to the economic field. Some of the main findings are increased use of this technique in Cuba, full economic evaluations are still few. Their relation with the decision making is insufficient since decisions are the ones that provide in fact the real measurement of efficiency. The professionals recognized the need of economic evaluation for strengthening decision making process in health care; additionally, the paper stated the need for a driving methodological axis and other technical tools to expedite the development of economic evaluation in the health care sector
