Abstract

ALONSO GONZALEZ, Rebeca; BAYARRE VEA, Héctor  and  ARTILES VISBAL, Leticia. Development of an instrument to measure personal satisfaction of middle-aged women. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2004, vol.30, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3127.

The present paper is aimed at developing an instrument that allows setting a personal satisfaction index for middle-aged woman. A literature review was made to set the following indicators for evaluating this aspect: self-esteem, health perception, life projects, gender conditioning and couple relationship. To determine the reliability of the instrument, we used test-retest method and estimated the reliability coefficient rtt. The internal consistency of the test was determined by applying the Multiple Linear Regression Model and calculating the Cronbach´s alpha coefficient. The instrument was submitted to experts´ criteria to evaluate the validity of contents. Spearman´s range correlation coefficient was estimated to determine the criteria validity. Extreme Group Methods using Mean Comparison Test in independent samples evaluated the construction validity. The test resulted to be highly reliable due to its stability and internal consistency, adequate validity of contents, criteria and construction. It was evidenced that the instrument developed allows setting a personal satisfaction index for middle-aged women
