Abstract

LOURO BERNAL, Isabel. Model of family group health. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2005, vol.31, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3127.

Family health care is a necessity if progress in health promotion, prevention and recovery strategies at primary care is to be achieved. The mediating character of this social group health warrants it. There is a conceptual and methodological gap in family health approach that hinders the comprehensive health practice. In 1976, a group of experts issued a family health concept that is still valid but requires deepening and operativeness. Our objective was to design a theoretical family health model that embraces scientifically-based concepts. For this end, methodological triangulation, focal groups and surveys administered to experts, users, social actors and families were used. The structure of the model defines six dynamically interrelated dimensions. This model was supported on the historical-cultural genesis of human behaviors, on biopsychosocial determination of health and on the psychological regularities of the family group. It was concluded that this model was relevant and applicable
