Theoretical-conceptual basis of equity were summarized and also linking of equity and health situation was commented on since both terms are considered to be completely consistent. Very often, this linking is set from its reverse facet, that is, inequalities or inequities are studied as unfavorable determinant to the changing situation of human health. On this occasion, methodological approaches were summarized and it was intended to translate the term "equity" to the Cuban health reality supported on the elements of the field of health and the results of several national research studies. The Ten World Health Risks as examples to identify equity in health situation were used. It was concluded that, though equity is a principle inherent to the national healthcare system from its inception, social and economic changes since 1990´s gave rise to some inequities detected in several social sciences research works and that a health approach through epidemiological research studies identifying still underlying inequities that affect health situation is required
