Abstract
PEREZ, J.C; RAMIREZ, Susana and SURIS, Moraima. Biology of Plodia interpunctella Hubner on chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) under laboratory conditions. Rev. Protección Veg. [online]. 2012, vol.27, n.2, pp. 90-94. ISSN 1010-2752.
The study of the biology of Plodia interpunctella Hubner on stored chickpea were conducted under laboratory conditions at an average of temperature and relative humidity of 26.6 ± 2.90°C and 78.2 ± 11.04% respectively. Eggs were collected daily and separated by batch. The presence of the head capsule exuvia was taken into account to determine the duration of the larval instar. Five larval instars were confirmed according to the exuviae found. The relationship between the length and width of the larval head capsule was determined by using the exponential regression equation. The life cycle of this species from egg hatch to adult death was an average of 43.82 ± 1.95 days for females and 47.30 ± 2.65 days for males. Data obtained offer valuable information for pest management strategies during the crop storage.
