Abstract

CRISTOBAL-ALEJO, Jairo et al. Hyphomycetes associated with tropical plants from Yucatán state, Mexico: generic identification and evaluation of fungicides for their control. Rev. Protección Veg. [online]. 2013, vol.28, n.2, pp. 138-144. ISSN 1010-2752.

Fungi affecting leaves of Capsicum chinense Jacq., Heliconia sp., Veitichia merrillii Becc., Polianthes tuberosa L., Jatropha curcas L. and Thevethia ahouai A. DC. were identified by using traditional techniques. Eight strains identified as members of the genera Curvularia, Alternaria and Helminthosporium were isolated from leaves of damaged plants. The effectiveness of the systemic fungicides Azoxystrobin, Benomyl, Fosetil Al, Tiabendazole, Imazalil and Procloraz in controlling these pathogens were evaluated. Under the tested conditions, Imazalil caused 100% growth inhibition in all the fungal isolates, while the growth inhibition caused by Fosetil-Al and Procloraz ranged from 75 to 100%.

Keywords : Curvularia; Alternaria; Helminthosporium; chemical control; solanaceae; ornamentals.
