A biographical synthesis on the outstanding Cuban Doctor Tomas Romay Chacon, making emphasis on the extent of his contributions to the development of the national culture and science, was exposed. 146 bibliographic references corresponding to the same number of papers produced by him on general medicine, yellow fever, hospitals, public health, vaccines, cholera, botany, chemistry, politics, population, literature, poetry and education, are presented Our main purpose was to go deeper into the life and work of this scientist and to pay homage to his memory on the occasssion of the bicentenary of the introduction of his vaccine in Cuba, and of the 240 anniversary of his birth.
