Abstract

SUAREZ SORI, Boris Gustavo  and  CURTIS MADRIGAL, Larry. Use of the automated register and control for recording deaths due to colorectal neoplasms. AMC [online]. 1998, vol.2, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1025-0255.

A prospective study was performed departing from Database of "Manuel Ascunce Domenech" Clinical-Surgical Provincial Teaching Hospital during three years of study (1994-1996). With the aim of determining the number of deceased with autopsy analyses, who had colorectal cancer as their basic cause of death, know their anatomopathological characteristics and value the quality of the clinical diagnosis. Data were processed with the Automated Register and Control System of Patho-Anatomy. A universe of 1690 deceased with autopsy studies was obtained, 39 out of them with cancer diagnosis. The most frequent hystologic type was the Adenocarcinoma, localization of the Rectosigmoid and metastases at the hepatic level. There were 33 true-positive, 6 false-negative for a high diagnostic sensibility (85%). The usefulness of the Automated Program as a helping tool for medical assistance and research was shown.
