Abstract

A descriptive, cross-sectional study was performed with 120 geriatric patients, assited in the multidisciplinary Geriatric Service of "Carlos J. Finlay"Communitary Teaching Polyclinic of Camagüey municipality, within a period of six months from July 1999 to December 1999. The study universe was composed of 120 patients who were assisted in these six months. They were applied a medical survey according to expertets'criterium and at the same time it was the primary register of the research, data obtained were processed using a statistical package MICROSTAT in an IBM compatible cumputer . The percentage was used as a comparisson measure. Femenine sex and 70-79 age group prevailed in the study. Urinary incontinence was significant while opthalmologic, audition and motility disorders did not interfer in every day life activities of patients. Emotional state was regular, while family and social support ranged from regular to good. The 60,8% of patients referred that his/her economic income was regular. Patients catalogued as independent as to validity level, prevailed in this study.
