Abstract
BARRETO ARGILAGOS, Guillermo; HERNANDEZ CISNEROS, Raquel Idania; SANTIAGO GARCIA, Llipsy and ORTIZ LOPEZ, Algel. Presence of enteropathoge E. coli in patientes with acute diarrhea. AMC [online]. 2001, vol.5, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1025-0255.
The study covered a total of 226 strains of E. coli, coming from 144 patients younger than 5 years, affected by acute diarrheic disease .Isolation and characterization of the enteropathogenic categories was performed according to the shedule proposed by Barreto. The frequency of the presentation of the enteropathogenic categories in patients with ADD was enteroinvasive 11,8% enterohemorragic 10,4%; enterotoxigenic 0,69%. Due to the lack of specific inmune serum, it was not established the frequency of presentation of the classic entheropathogen type. However, results obtained infer its participation in this etiology. Porcentages of the isolation of E. enteroinvasive E. coli and enterohemorrhagic E. coli. show the need of instrumenting this type of diagnosis.
