Abstract

A descriptive, cross-sectional study was performed in a sample of 130 patients who were admitted with the diagnosis of trhombotic cerebral infarction at the internal medicine service of Manuel Ascunce Provincial Hospital of Camagüey, during one years departing from September 1999; with the aim of knowing the behavior of this entity in our field. These subjects were chosen by the method of systematic selection; data were analyzed in an IBM microcomputer throug MICROSTAT package masculine sex prevailed, ages from 70 to 79 years and arterialhypertension (45,38%) as the main risk factor, was the most frequent localization of the cerebral infarction, the hematocrit was normal in the higher number of patients and bronchopneumonia was the complication with more occurrence.
