Abstract

A comparative study of therapeutic utility of Enalapril and Verapamil-retard, was performed in 40 patients in a monotherapy way, and in unique dosis, affected for essential moderate blood pressure population, divided into two equal groups, was treated during 10 weeks with a daily dosis of 5 to 20 mg of Enalapril or of 240-480 mg of Verapamil-retard. It was proved that both drugs were effective in the treatment of this affection. Among the humoral parameters assessed, glomerular filtration showed increase of its values with statistic significance for both drougs, while proteinuria of 24 hours did not have significant variations. Drug adverse reactions with the use of Enalapril were fatigue and cephalea for 20 % and 10 % respectively. All these reactions were transiet and did not force to discontinue therapy.
