Abstract

A descriptive study about the incidnce of novo cancer in kney transplants in the Nephrology serviceat manuelo Ascunce Domenech hospital within the period from 1991- 2000 was carried out with the aim of determining the incidence of it in kidney transplant receptors, time of ocurrence, cause of the chronic renal failure (CRF), type of donor, infections after transplant, compatibleness, HLA and infections the causes of losing the graft function. The universe was 153 patients who received a kidney transplant in the period before mentioned, and the sample of 104 patients. Fourty nine sick persons were excluded, because it was not possible to evaluate them for losing graft function or deceased before the year. A survey model was used for collecting data. The novo cancer inicdence was of 15, 4 % masculine sex and ages from 46 to 55 years prevailed. Primary glomerulonepathies and diabetic nephropathy were the main causes of CRF in patients with cancer or withoud it. The majority of transplanted received a kidney of a cadaveric donor and were exposed to sun radiations. Tne most frequent cancer was epidermoid carcinoma of ski, followed by non Hodking lymphoma, gastric carcinoma and the hepatocellular. The most frequent infections were viral such as human papilloma virus andherpes virus. One compatibleness HLA prevailed in different histologic types of cancer. The most frequent cause of losing graft function was that of acute rejection.
