Abstract

A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out for characterizing 390 patients with fasciola hepatica, coming from Esmeralda, Camagüey, during 1999, data were processed using MICROSTAT statistic program. Women prevailed with 56, 4 %, located among 31 to 60 years old groups. The most frequent symptoms were fever, asthenia, weigth losing and pain in the rigth hyponchondrium, while hepatomegalia was the main sign. Eosinophilia was present in 97, 6 % of the study universe; as to complications, only 9, 5 % presented, hepathic granulomatosis was the most frequent (7, 2 %).
