Abstract

Alveolitis is the most frequent complication of the dental extraction. Its frequency varies from 1 to 4 %, reaching a 20 -30 % in extraction of third mandibular molar. Some risk factors that increase its incidence are described, although a multifactorial origin is analyzed, Clinic and subjective symptoms make possible its diagnosis and classification . So as to treat alveolitis, some different products have been locally used for inducing clot formation: antibiotics, anesthetics, analgesics, and antinflammtory, associated or not to corticoids, analgesics and systemic amtibiotics. Also, Natural and Traditional Medicine plays and important role in the treatment of this dental emergency; presenting therapeutics such as: apitherapy, acupuncture and ozonpotherapy; also advanced techologies such as "soft laser".
