Abstract

VALERA VALERO, CarlosAlberto; SANCHEZ CASAS, Yoandra; GONZALEZ LUCAS, Norma  and  FERNANDEZ RODRIGUEZ, Francisco. Diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. AMC [online]. 2003, vol.7, n.3, pp. 365-384. ISSN 1025-0255.

Ectopic pregnancy is considered by some authors, according to its behavior in this decennium, as an epidemic disease sometimes mortal for women who suffer it, is we proposed to review and analyze the scientific evidence avaibable in the world literature for determining clinical manifestations most frequent in this disease as well as diagnostic means widely used in current times. The previous may be concluded stating that the most important antecedents referred by them were pelvic inflamatory disease, usee intrauterine devices, induced abortions, previos ectopic pregnancy and use of assisted reproduction techniques .The association for low pelvic pain and mestrual cramps with pain to abdominal palapation or to vaginal taction in presence of pelvic mass are higly suggestive of ectopic pregnancy. The combination of transvaginal ultrasonogrphy with determination of beta fraction of chronic gonadotropine show hig specificity and sensibility. Through vaginal echography with colored flow image with trasductor of high frequency is possible to establish a more precise and rapid diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. Laparoscopy continues being a simple means for reaching a definitive diagnosis.
