Abstract

HERNANDEZ VARELA, Ariel et al. Analysis of the impact of care model for diabetic foot. AMC [online]. 2003, vol.7, n.5, pp. 526-533. ISSN 1025-0255.

An observational, cross -sectional and descriptive study was performed so as to know the impact diabetic foot. The study universe was carried was composed of all patients admitted in the angiology and surgery service at "Manuel Ascunce Domenech" Provincial Hospital of Camagüey from January to December 1999. Two groups were formed, an study group with 31 patients who have received educative actions of health and the other control group with 158 patients did not apply those actions Patients of the study group were assisted first the consultation (99,54 %) and in a greater percentage with the family physician; they obtained 87,04 % of qualification with high sanitary culture. In the operation level, debridement and minor operations prevailed. Patients who received educational actions presented to the family physician faster, they need numerous amputations, and the knowledge level about the disease was higher.
