Abstract

A bibliographic review of the septic shock is a performed at Manuel Ascunce Domenech Provincial Hospital of Camagüey in 2003 for examining in a general way concepts of sepsis, syndrome of systemic inflammatory response (SIRS), multiple dysfunction of organs (MDOS) and septic shock. It was shown that the last complies to a stereotyped response of the host to infection; and eventhough monitoring and aggressive treatment with patent antimicrobial fluids, vasoactive and inotropic drugs, and blocking of the inflammatory response or advanced treatment have been used; mortality for this syndrome in the last few years has changed a little.
