Abstract

IBANEZ MORALES, Marianela; RAMOS GONZALEZ, Noslando; RODRIGUEZ ROMERO, Armando  and  MUNOZ ESTRADA, Lissette. Psychological alterations of the patient carrier of senile bilateral cataract. AMC [online]. 2005, vol.9, n.1, pp. 13-20. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive study in 50 patients carriers of senile bilateral cataract was performed. They were subjected to surgical treatment under the effects of acupuncture surgical analgesia within the period from January to June 2003. The scale test for anxiety Ipat, the HPT, Kotter and ZungTest and an individual psychiatric interview were carried out. Patients studied were characterized for being pesimistic, insecure, with poor control of impulses, emotive and with high level of anxiety. The pathopsychological profile showed symptoms of anxiety, sadness, insomnia, asthenia and iritability. Among mental diseases, neurotic depression and anxiety disorders prevailed
