Abstract

VAZQUEZ DRAKE, Charles T.  and  DEL RISCO BARRIOS, Ubaldo. Incidence of errors in the identification of intestinal parasites in health units of Camagüey. AMC [online]. 2005, vol.9, n.3, pp. 73-81. ISSN 1025-0255.

Through the Parasitism Diagnosis Quality Management Program errors in the identification of intestinal parasites were determined in fecal samples from eleven laboratories of the Province of Camagüey from September 2000 to August 2001 direct and concentrated microscopical examination of 258 samples revealed incorrect diagnosing in 35 cases. Incomplete diagnosis was the most common inaccuracy, followed by over diagnosis and diagnosis change. Having been used as the reference standard, the Provincial Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology concluded that it is necessary to improve training of personnel in charge of diagnosis.
