Abstract

An experimental investigation in 24 patients admitted in the Intensive Care Units at Manuel Ascunce and Military Dr. Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja Provincial Hospitals in Camagüey from January 1 st 2002 to 2004 was carried out. They were carriers of acute renal failure and received dialytic treatment with continuous arteriovenous hemodialysis serial determinations of laboratory examinations that allowed the evaluation of effectiveness of the dialytic method were performed. The main results obtained are; progressive and continuous standardization of values of arterial gasometry, potassium and serum creatinine, the mean spreed of ultrafiltration was of 154 ml/h, the 66, 7 % of patients did not complicate during the performance of treatment, the 66, 7 % of patients discharged alive and with recovery of the kidney function.
