Abstract

A descriptive study with the objective to identify the behavior of the arterial hypertension was performed in adolescents from two doctor's offices at "Tula Aguilera Céspedes" University Hospital of Camagüey, from August 2005 to January 2006. Seventeen out of 173 polled adolescents with arterial hypertension were found, these ones constituted the sample of the study. The survey was the primary register. Data were processed of automated form. Among the main results the 9.82% of adolescents turned out to be having high blood pressure. Male sex was most affected and the age groups from 15 to 19 years with 64.70% and 70.50% respectively. Obeses and overweights with a 35.29% and 29.41% predominated. The 76.47% presented family pathological antecedents of arterial hypertension and risk factors of the disease the 82.30%. Adolescents with one or more risk factors suffered from the disease was concluded.
