Abstract

Background: the metatarsus varus is a frequent pathology in the infantile orthopedics consultation. Objective: to value the modified Ghali technique in the surgical treatment of metatarsus varus. Method: a cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted in sixty-two children with diagnosis of metatarsus varus attended in the service of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Pediatric University Hospital "Eduardo Agramonte Piña", from august 2004 to august 2007. Results: the congenital metatarsus varus occupied the first place with fifty-four for 94,7%, the bilateral feet prevailed with fifty-five for 96,5%, in the age occupied the first place from five to nine years with thirty-four for 59,6%, the final result was satisfactory, the 100% of patients solved the static clinical parameter and the dynamic one with a 94,7%. Conclusions: it was an effective, economic and simple technique.
