Abstract

FUENTES DIAZ, Zaily et al. Congenital cataract by persistence of Cloquet´s channel: a case presentation. AMC [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.3, pp. 585-591. ISSN 1025-0255.

Background: cataract is generally the opacity of the lens of the eye that affects its cortex or nucleus, with tendency to progress. The prevention stated by the primary health attention programs in Cuba diminishes child disability for blindness. Clinical case: a ten months patient, coming from Isaías Medina Angarita area, Northeast Petare, Sucre Municipality, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is presented. He was registered during dispensarization in August 2009. After rejecting diseases able to cause posterior polar cataract through the clinic and complementary analysis, was confirmed its congenital character, by persistence of Cloquet´s channel with bad visual prognosis and the absence of evoked response in the right eye with no surgical treatment possibility. The early diagnosis in the first three months of life is very important; it is carried out by means of the ophthalmic physical examination by the general practitioner during the newborn registration and the ulterior consultations of puericulture.
