Abstract

FROMETA MARTINEZ, Juan Francisco et al. Secondary chondrosarcoma: a case presentation. AMC [online]. 2012, vol.16, n.3, pp. 335-342. ISSN 1025-0255.

Background: chondrosarcoma is a low grade malignant bone tumor, usually located in the axial skeleton; secondary chondrosarcoma is not common and its location is typical in the appendicular skeleton.       Clinical case: a 29-year-old, white, male patient, presented with a slow growth tumor in the right hip, he was admitted at the University Provincial Hospital Manuel Ascunce Domenech to be surgically intervened, and resection of the tumor mass was carried out. Conclusions: the presence of secondary chondrosarcoma is uncommon; however, within its low frequency, osteochondroma is the pre-existing lesion that becomes the most in sarcomatous degeneration.

Keywords : CHONDROSARCOMA [surgery]; BONE NEOPLASMS; ADULT; CASE STUDIES.
