Abstract

Passiflora incarnata L. is one of the species approved by the Cuban Ministry of Public Health to be used as a plant drug in the preparation of fluid extracts of sedative action. In view of its significance for the National Health System, alkaloids and flavonoids are accumulated every month during a year by montly crops, and 4 times a day in parcels of "Dr. Juan T. Roig" Experimental Station of Medicinal Plants, in San Antonio de los Baños Municipality, La Habana Province. Information is given on the phenology of this species, yields of dry and fresh organic matter, content of total alkaloids and flavonoids, and the variations of these secondary metabolites in the course of time.
