Abstract

Introduction:

the activity of scientific categorization constitutes for each institution a strategic objective for the scientific development of its professionals.

Objective:

to characterize the process of obtaining scientific status in Granma during 2018 that guarantees quality in the management of science seeking sustainability of the provincial health system.

Method:

a descriptive, observational study was carried out, theoretical and empirical methods were used, and as statistical methods, the distribution of absolute frequencies and the presentation of the results in tables and graphs for their subsequent analysis and discussion.

Results:

a total of 92 professionals categorized in the province were reached. Named provincial court for the granting of lower scientific categories. Manzanillo municipality with the highest number of categorized 48.7% followed Bayamo 23.1%; in the same percentage Media Luna and Yara 12.8%. Campechuela contributed the promotion of a Health Technologist. Aspirants and Aggregates represented 12.8% and 84.6% respectively. 21% of the total corresponded to the male sex and the rest are female 79%. 30.8% are under 40 years old. Doctors predominated with 46.2%; 7.7% Technologists and the rest in equal amount among Nurses, Stomatologists and others not specific to the sector.

Conclusions:

the process of granting scientific categories in the province was characterized, obtaining in 2018 growth of the total of researchers with predominance of females over 45 years of age. The categories of highest award were those of aspiring researchers and researchers added. Physicians prevailed as a professional category and to a lesser extent, Health Technologists.
