Abstract

VILLEGAS MAESTRE, José Daniel  and  FERRER ROSABAL, Lianet de la Caridad. Cuban medical teaching in times of COVID-19. Multimed [online]. 2022, vol.26, n.1  Epub Jan 14, 2022. ISSN 1028-4818.

The epidemiological situation generated by the appearance of the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus has unleashed a global public health emergency and the search for strategies in matters related to medical education at this stage. The objective was to delimit the particularities of Cuban higher medical education in the times of COVID-19. The method was a qualitative approach based on a theoretical conception that allowed identifying the strategies outlined by Cuban medical teaching in the period of the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic. It was concluded that the suspension of face-to-face activities, teaching through virtualization processes, the modification of the curriculum and the activities of the students were the fundamental strategies of teaching and that the participation of the student body in the active research constituted the essence in the prevention of COVID-19 in Cuba.
