Abstract
FONSECA AGUILERA, Ariel Arnoldo et al. Factors associated with the development of hypertensive heart disease in patients with chronic kidney disease. Multimed [online]. 2022, vol.26, n.2 Epub Mar 15, 2022. ISSN 1028-4818.
Introduction:
chronic kidney disease and arterial hypertension constitute a public health problem. Hypertensive heart disease is within the spectrum of complications due to these two nosological entities.
Objective:
to identify the influence of the different risk factors for the development of hypertensive heart disease in patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
Methods:
a case-control study was carried out in patients who were admitted to the Internal Medicine and Nephrology services, as well as HTA outpatients of the "Carlos Manuel de Céspedes" Provincial General Hospital of Bayamo in the period from the 1st from January 2019 to March 31, 2021.
Results:
the binary logistic regression model adjusted by the backward stepwise method showed that only 11 variables were sufficient for an adequate fit of the model and adequate discriminative capacity (area under the curve: 0.945). The outstanding factors were, in order of importance, the non-control of hypertension, the time of evolution and the C-reactive protein.
Conclusions:
a model is obtained to predict the development of hypertensive heart disease in patients with chronic kidney disease, with adequate discriminative capacity based on risk factors.
